Cooking for beginners

This week I’m taking my mother to a cooking class so that she can learn new things. My suspicion is that this class will be less helpful for the woman who has kept herself (and us) fed this whole time but perhaps actually helpful for this guy, who just had to Google “how to boil potatoes” (right after “can you still eat potatoes that have sprouted”).

My concern about my overuse of the phrase “well, I’m good at other things” is that I am running out of other things at which to be good. I don’t think that friendship bracelets and singing along to the radio count.

From sketch to still, the lush costumes and art-deco set designs of The Artist—today nominated for an Oscar for costume design.
Sketch by the Oscar-nominated Mark Bridges—congrats, Mark! Read more about his designs here.

Yum! I love to look at other designer’s sketches.
